Geauga County • July 22, 2025
Good morning, Geauga County. The rhythm of community life takes center stage this month as Cleveland Heights prepares for its 13th annual Music Hop, transforming four iconic commercial districts into live music venues September 19-21. This three-day celebration of local talent and cultural diversity represents the heartbeat of Northeast Ohio's vibrant arts sceneβa welcome contrast to the somber news from South Euclid, where 18-year-old Jeremiah Hawkins tragically lost his life Thursday evening in what police describe as a targeted shooting.
Meanwhile, a healthcare revolution is brewing locally as Cleveland addresses its nursing shortage through innovative solutions. Ursuline College's new emergency nurse practitioner program and the Cleveland Clinic-University Hospitals collaboration on nursing instructor "boot camps" tackle the crisis from multiple angles. These forward-thinking initiatives not only create pathways to lucrative healthcare careers but also combat the burnout that threatens our medical infrastructure at its foundation.
