Good morning, Geauga County. When temperatures rise, so does our community's commitment to our youngest residents. Painesville Safety Town is returning for its second year with strategic upgrades based on parent feedback—expanding both its model town and curriculum to create an even more robust experience for the nearly 25 young participants already enrolled. This enhanced program represents exactly the kind of responsive community initiative that thrives when we listen to those we serve.

The summer safety theme continues as University Hospitals launches its ninth year providing free weekday lunches to children across Northeast Ohio. With seven distribution sites including UH Ahuja Medical Center, this vital program requires no income verification—just hungry kids ready for nutritious meals. Meanwhile, a more urgent safety situation unfolded in Mentor, where a house fire on Heisley Road temporarily closed thoroughfares and sent one firefighter to the hospital, reminding us of the risks our first responders face daily.
