Geauga County • June 3, 2025
Good morning, Geauga County. Leadership transitions often signal new chapters in community institutions, and that's precisely what's happening at the Cleveland Jewish Federation as Jeffrey Wild prepares to take the helm. The 52-year-old Benesch partner brings impressive credentials to an organization that touches countless lives across Northeast Ohio, having already spearheaded the $180 million Jewish Day School Transformation initiative among other accomplishments.
Meanwhile, culinary transformations are heating up in Chagrin Falls where Rick Doody has reimagined Jojo's Backyard as the Mediterranean-inspired Bar Fuoco, complete with a new outdoor pizza oven and relaxed atmosphere. The area's cultural scene is equally sizzling this summer as the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival brings outdoor screenings featuring everything from tiki culture to inspiring athletic feats, complemented by Art by the Falls showcasing 160 artists at Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field.

🕎 Cleveland Jewish Federation selects Jeffrey Wild as new board chair. The 52-year-old Benesch partner will lead the organization from 2025 to 2028, succeeding Daniel Zelman. Wild brings extensive community leadership experience, having previously chaired the annual fundraising campaign and the $180 million Jewish Day School Transformation initiative. He has served as president of multiple Jewish educational institutions and currently sits on several prestigious boards. "Jewish Cleveland is a truly special place and it is an honor to serve in this capacity," Wild said.
🔥 Chagrin Falls hotspot transforms with Mediterranean flair. Rick Doody has rebranded Jojo's Backyard as Bar Fuoco, creating a more relaxed, walk-in friendly atmosphere. The revamped space maintains its signature wood-fired Argentinian grill while adding a new outdoor pizza oven to enhance its Mediterranean menu. Guests can enjoy everything from fire-roasted shishito peppers and shareable "pizzettes" to grilled skewers and lobster rolls. Doody, who owns several other restaurants, will soon open Cafe Lola in the same area, styled after a classic American bistro.
🎬 Chagrin Documentary Film Festival brings summer movie magic outdoors. The festival's headquarters in Chagrin Falls is screening diverse documentaries including "The Donn of Tiki" about a rum-running pioneer and "The Weight of Water" following a blind kayaker navigating the Grand Canyon. Beyond films, the community can enjoy Art by the Falls featuring 160 artists at Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field, and free outdoor movie nights at Observatory Park. Individual film tickets start at $15, with special events including themed cocktails and kids' activities.
