🐴 Manure matters

Geauga County • April 10, 2025

Good morning, Geauga County. When it comes to pressing rural challenges, horse manure might not top most people's lists – yet for local equine enthusiasts, it's serious business. The upcoming "Manure Happens!" workshop on May 29th offers Geauga County horse owners practical solutions for waste management that improve both animal health and environmental conservation. Meanwhile, a troubling situation has emerged at Chardon Middle School, where multiple sexual assault allegations have sparked a police investigation and raised questions about student safety protocols.

Just a short drive away, a medical milestone is addressing one of Northeast Ohio's most critical health concerns. The new University Hospitals Diabetes Center at MidTown brings specialized care directly to an underserved Cleveland community, where a staggering 46% of Cuyahoga County residents have diabetes or pre-diabetes. This 1,700-square-foot facility removes barriers to treatment by offering comprehensive services regardless of patients' ability to pay – a life-changing development for many in our region.

🚨 Sexual assault allegations rock Ohio middle school choir program. Multiple sixth-grade girls at Chardon Middle School have reported being sexually assaulted by a male classmate between October 2024 and February 2025. Parents claim the school district failed to protect victims by allowing the accused student, allegedly the son of a school board member, to return to class days after the reports. Chardon Police confirmed an active investigation has been referred to the county prosecutor's office. The school superintendent issued a statement emphasizing student safety but cited privacy laws in declining to comment on specific allegations.
