🌸 Changing seasons

Geauga County • March 10, 2025

Good morning, Geauga County. March brings a bittersweet changing of seasons as our community says farewell to Larry "Walleye" Winton, whose 76 years of life wove deeply into our local fabric. The proud veteran and 27-year Holden Arboretum groundskeeper leaves behind not just a loving family but a legacy of service that exemplifies the quiet strength found throughout our county. His story reminds us that extraordinary lives often unfold in seemingly ordinary ways – through dedication to family, land, and community.

While one chapter closes, new beginnings emerge across our region. Philadelphia-style hoagies will soon arrive in Mentor as The Original Steaks and Hoagies expands eastward on April 4th. Meanwhile, the future hangs in the balance for Quail Hollow Resort as the luxury property heads to auction amid legal challenges. The March 11 bidding deadline approaches with the property's fate still unresolved – another reminder that even our most established institutions constantly evolve.
