Gallia County • September 12, 2025
Good morning, Gallia County. A community's strength is often measured by those who serve it, and this week we're reminded of that profound truth with the passing of Mike Campbell, a dedicated EMT and assistant fire chief who devoted over 15 years to keeping others safe. His loss while on duty at Chesapeake EMS Station 3 leaves a void in local emergency services that will be deeply felt throughout Lawrence County and beyond.
On a brighter note, the future is literally taking shape as construction crews pour walls for the new 9,000-square-foot Gallia Senior Center, transforming a century-old legacy into a modern facility to serve seniors across all 22 townships. Meanwhile, on the greens, Wahama's White Falcons demonstrated remarkable precision, edging out Chapmanville by just two strokes in Tuesday's golf match behind Grant Roush's impressive performance that helped secure the home turf victory.

🏗️ New senior center rises from historic roots in Gallipolis. Construction crews poured walls for the 9,000-square-foot Gallia Senior Center this week, with plumbing work now underway. The modern, ADA-accessible facility will replace the current center housed in a 1906 building and is expected to be completed by spring 2025. Funded by $2.5 million in grants, the center will support four departments that provide meals, transportation, home care, and adult day services to seniors across all 22 townships in Gallia County. Executive Director Marlene Stout expressed gratitude to county commissioners and officials who recognized the need and secured funding for the project.
