Good morning, Gallia County. By 2027, Toyota's West Virginia plant will be humming with more than just engines—the automaker is tackling the child care crisis head-on with plans for an on-site facility caring for 240 children across two shifts. This innovative approach to worker retention addresses a critical need many parents face: finding flexible child care that aligns with manufacturing schedules, complete with age-appropriate curriculum and STEM activities for little ones from infancy through kindergarten.

Meanwhile, the county's legal system has been busy as a grand jury returned indictments against 24 individuals on various charges, primarily drug-related offenses involving methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl. Just across the river, Nucor's massive $4 billion steel mill in Apple Grove is making steady progress at 60% completion, with plans to transform scrap steel into new sheet products by late 2025—representing the final piece in the company's current slate of capital projects.
