Gallia County • July 3, 2025
Good morning, Gallia County. Behind an ordinary traffic stop lies an extraordinary discovery—53 grams of cocaine hidden inside a latex glove tucked behind a loose door panel. This weekend's arrest of a Reynoldsburg man in a stolen vehicle reminds us that even routine police work can uncover complex criminal activity. Meanwhile, a profound historical recognition has come to our community as the John Gee Black Historical Center joins the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Program, honoring those who risked everything in the pursuit of liberty.
In financial circles, Gallipolis-based Ohio Valley Banc Corp. has achieved a milestone that puts our local institution on the national investment map. Its addition to the prestigious Russell 3000® Index means index funds managing portions of the staggering $10.6 trillion in assets tracking Russell indexes will now include shares of our hometown bank. The July 18 dedication ceremony for the John Gee Center promises to be a fitting celebration of both local history and national recognition.
