Gallia County • May 2, 2025
Good morning, Gallia County. The future of law enforcement is getting a high-tech boost just across the river. Mason County commissioners have invested $44,000 in a sophisticated training simulator for their Career Center's new law enforcement program. This fall, students will begin mastering everything from leadership and ethics to crucial de-escalation techniques—skills that could eventually strengthen our regional safety departments with homegrown talent.
Meanwhile, our area is embracing its imaginative side with a steampunk-filled May. This Saturday's Steampunk Festival brings Victorian-futuristic flair to Gallipolis with free museum tours and vintage railroad displays. The creative energy continues all month with Bossard Library's Pinewood Derby Day on May 10, a special Lafayette historical presentation on May 17 ahead of the bicentennial celebration, and live music kicking off at Racine Library on May 21. Who says small towns can't deliver big entertainment?
