Gallia County • March 27, 2025
Good morning, Gallia County. First place trophies and statewide recognition are piling up for Mason County students this month. From the FFA agriculture mechanics team's championship performance to Point Pleasant's award-winning news site tackling underage drinking prevention, local youth are demonstrating excellence beyond classroom walls. The achievements continue with Kendra Lee's prestigious honor as West Virginia Student Journalist of the Year, while Wahama students will soon have a new competitive outlet with the board's approval of an E-Sports team.
Infrastructure improvements are moving forward on multiple fronts across the region. Commissioners have taken steps toward securing a $900,000 USDA loan to address sewer project overruns, while seven new school buses worth over $1 million will soon transport students. Meanwhile, the American Legion Auxiliary welcomed six new members who are already engaging the next generation in meaningful patriotic service—preparing decorated lunch pails with veteran suicide prevention messaging that honors those who've served while supporting those still struggling.
