Gallia County • February 10, 2025
Good morning, Gallia County. When it comes to fighting for hometown pride, Chris Rizer just took our local spirit all the way to Capitol Hill. Our Main Street Point Pleasant director joined the national chorus advocating for rural communities, armed with an impressive statistic: $41 million in downtown investments since 1989. That's the kind of track record that makes congressional representatives lean in and listen.
The ripples of revival aren't stopping at the state line either. While Mason County is cooking up ambitious development plans for Henderson, our own commissioners just green-lit a whopping $15.9 million for the Green Sewer project. From Washington D.C. to our own backyard, it seems the winds of change are blowing strong through the Ohio Valley - and they're carrying the sweet scent of progress.

🏛️ Small town director fights for historic preservation on Capitol Hill. Chris Rizer, from Main Street Point Pleasant, joined leaders nationwide in Washington D.C. to advocate for downtown revitalization funding and policies. During the event, dubbed Hill Day, Rizer met with several congressional representatives including Sen. Shelley Moore Capito and Rep. Carol Miller to discuss Historic Tax Credit improvements. The meetings highlighted a bipartisan push for the Rural Historic Tax Credit Improvement Act, which aims to boost investment in rural communities. Since 1989, Main Street Point Pleasant has channeled over $41 million in combined public and private investments into downtown development.
💰 Mason County takes bold step toward economic revival in Henderson. The county commission has approved public hearings for two major development initiatives - an Economic Opportunity Development District (EODD) and Tax Incremental Finance District (TIF). Both hearings are scheduled for March 13 at the Mason County Courthouse. The EODD aims to attract businesses and revitalize areas through targeted investments and incentives, while the TIF district would use increased property tax revenue to fund public improvements. These initiatives could transform Henderson's economic landscape without raising existing taxes.
