Good morning, Franklin County. After nearly a decade in the making, the Ohio State campus area is finally seeing movement on its long-stalled hotel project, with Crawford Hoying breaking ground on a development that will bring 145 hotel rooms and 120 apartments to the University Square area. This 2.5-acre transformation represents the latest evolution of the vibrant university district that began taking shape back in 2015, with construction expected to begin in late 2026.

In a powerful testament to a mother's enduring love, Brenda Johnson continues her five-year quest for justice, holding annual vigils at the Columbus intersection where her son James was fatally shot in 2020. Meanwhile, economic development gets a boost elsewhere in Ohio as JobsOhio awards $500,000 to support a new industrial building in Austintown, addressing the shortage of development-ready spaces that could attract advanced manufacturing and technology businesses to the region.

James, a father of six, was gunned down at a gas station in what remains an unsolved murder from Columbus's record-breaking year of homicides. "What's hardest is knowing my son's last moments were running from bullets," Brenda shared as she continues seeking closure while running a nonprofit supporting children who've lost parents to violence.
