Good morning, Franklin County. The curtain has fallen on a remarkable era of Columbus entertainment history with the passing of Joe Worman at 93. For four decades, this Ohio Theatre stage manager witnessed the magic of countless performances, collecting celebrity signatures on his famous office door—from Bette Davis to Donny Osmond—while helping transform the historic venue into a cultural cornerstone. Even in retirement, the theater legend maintained his flair for the dramatic, proudly showcasing his classic 1962 Corvette as recently as 2021.

On more pressing matters, Franklin County is tackling serious challenges with innovative solutions. OhioHealth's partnerships are fighting alarming infant mortality rates through education and targeted care initiatives, while county officials across Ohio have united behind comprehensive property tax relief recommendations. The collaborative proposals aim to expand programs for seniors and disabled residents while creating more sustainable tax structures for homeowners feeling the squeeze of rising assessments.

👶 Ohio fights alarming infant mortality rates with innovative community partnerships. OhioHealth is working with programs like CelebrateOne and CHAMPS to reduce infant deaths in a state ranked 43rd nationally for infant mortality. The E.M.P.A.T.H.Y Experience educates healthcare workers about unconscious bias and structural racism that contribute to disparities in infant care. CDC data shows non-Hispanic Black infants die at 2.4 times the rate of white infants, highlighting the urgent need for these initiatives. OhioHealth's commitment spans education, breastfeeding support, and prenatal care across their hospitals that deliver most of Franklin County's babies.
