🌺 Poppy power

Fayette County • April 28, 2025

Good morning, Fayette County. The iconic red poppies will soon bloom across Highland County as commissioners officially declared May as Buddy Poppy Month. These small fabric flowers, assembled by disabled veterans, represent something far greater than their delicate appearance suggests – direct support for local veterans and families in need, while serving as visible reminders of the sacrifices made for American freedoms.

Meanwhile, summer adventures are sprouting at Carnegie Library with their "Color Our World" program launching May 27. The free offerings span all ages – from children's storytimes and homeschooler gatherings to adult events like the upcoming Phone Clinic and the intriguingly named "Bring Your Own Book Club." As central Ohio dries out from Friday's drenching (Cleveland took the heaviest hit with 1.24 inches), we can look forward to a sunny weekend before temperatures climb into the 80s next week.
