Fayette County • April 23, 2025
Good morning, Fayette County. Mark your calendars for May 1st as our community unites for the National Day of Prayer, with services at the courthouse gazebo and a Community Prayer Walk kicking off April 26. This countywide moment of reflection brings together residents of all ages, from care facility residents to high school students organizing prayer at their flagpoles—a testament to our community's enduring spiritual connections.
The spirit of service runs equally strong in neighboring Greenfield, where McClain High School's annual "MHS Day" will transform the town on May 9. Every student and staff member will tackle projects from trash pickup to cemetery cleaning, while Highland County prepares for America's 250th anniversary with their newly funded celebration plans. Their "Highland County's Story Day" project will honor local history through everything from a Heritage Tree planting to living history concerts—preserving our region's rich traditions for generations to come.

🙏 Fayette County prepares for National Day of Prayer on May 1. Commissioners signed a proclamation for the event, which will feature prayer services at the courthouse gazebo at noon and 7 p.m. A Community Prayer Walk is scheduled for April 26, starting at 8 a.m. from the courthouse. Additional services are planned at local care facilities, while high school students are organizing student-led prayer at flagpoles. The task force invites the entire community to join in prayer for local, state, national, and global concerns.
🏫 McClain High School's annual day of service brightens an entire town. On May 9, all MHS students and staff will participate in "MHS Day," a tradition since 2015 where they complete community projects throughout Greenfield. This year's activities include trash pickup, mulching, painting, cemetery cleaning, plus new initiatives like a fundraising car wash for auditorium revitalization and creating hygiene bags for the homeless. The McClain FFA is organizing the event with some funding from Adena, and students are still accepting project suggestions from community members. After morning service work, participants will return to school for lunch and fun activities.
