Fayette County • April 9, 2025
Good morning, Fayette County. Spring has arrived with its signature blend of renewal and activity, as Highland County sports teams gear up for an action-packed week of competition. From baseball diamonds to tennis courts, local athletes from Hillsboro, McClain, and beyond will showcase their talents across a packed schedule of matchups. The season of fresh starts extends beyond sports, with the Health Department offering six free Dumpster Days from April through September—perfect timing for those feeling the annual urge to declutter.
Meanwhile, the justice system continues its steady work in our community. A 26-year-old Dayton woman recently received a second chance through three years of community control instead of jail time, following charges that spanned methamphetamine possession, vehicle theft, and failing to appear in court. Her case, which includes mandatory residential treatment and restitution payments, highlights the balance between accountability and rehabilitation that our local courts navigate daily.

Hillsboro, McClain, Lynchburg-Clay, Fairfield, and Whiteoak will face opponents in various matchups throughout the week. All varsity schedules remain subject to change.
🗑️ Highland County offers six free Dumpster Days to combat clutter. The Health Department's 2025 events will run from April through September at various locations throughout the county, operating from 9am-4pm on scheduled dates. Residents can dispose of unwanted junk, broken furniture, yard waste, and non-hazardous household items on a first-come, first-served basis. The department warns that once dumpsters are full, the events will end, and reminds residents not to bring hazardous materials like chemicals, electronics, or construction debris. Those with questions can contact the Highland County Health Department at (937) 393-1941.
⚖️ Dayton woman avoids jail for meth, theft, and fleeing court. Nikki Brant, 26, received three years of community control for charges spanning three separate cases in Highland County. The judge ordered her to complete residential treatment after she pleaded guilty to methamphetamine possession, failure to appear in court, and stealing a vehicle. Brant was caught with meth during a high-speed chase in June 2024 and later failed to attend her court hearing. She must also pay $1,000 in restitution for the vehicle theft.
Miami Trace Panthers delivered a pitching masterclass, blanking McClain Tigers 11-0 in a dominant league performance. The Panthers' bats were as hot as their arms were untouchable, improving to a perfect 3-0 record. These teams will run it back immediately with a rematch Tuesday, though the Tigers might want to consider a new gameplan after Monday's shellacking.
