Fairfield County • August 12, 2025
Good morning, Fairfield County. Mark your calendars for August 12 – that's when healthcare access gets a major upgrade with OhioHealth's new 24/7 emergency facility in Canal Winchester. This $31 million, three-story health center represents more than just a building; it's 40,000 square feet of comprehensive care bringing vital services closer to home for our growing community. With 50 new jobs created, it's a win for both health outcomes and local employment.
Breaking barriers seems to be a Fairfield County specialty lately. Attorney Jennifer Sitterley has earned the prestigious 2025 ATHENA Leadership Award while building a thriving elder law practice despite pandemic challenges. And in a remarkable medical milestone, local couple Tim and Lindsey Pierce welcomed baby Thaddeus in July – born from what may be the longest-frozen embryo (30 years!) ever resulting in a successful birth. Some things, it seems, are worth the wait.

⚖️ Lancaster attorney breaks barriers in elder law and leadership. Jennifer Sitterley has been named the 2025 ATHENA Leadership Award recipient by the Lancaster Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce. As one of only 38 certified elder law attorneys in Ohio, she launched her own firm in 2019 with a mission to support women in the profession. Despite pandemic challenges, Sitterley's practice has flourished, earning her recognition as Small Business of the Year in 2024. Beyond her legal work, she remains active in community service while raising two daughters with her husband.
👶 Baby Thaddeus made history from a 30-year-old frozen embryo. Tim and Lindsey Pierce welcomed their first child in July after struggling with infertility and turning to embryo adoption. The embryo, created in 1994 by a woman named Linda, is believed to set a record for the longest frozen embryo resulting in live birth. The Ohio couple worked with Nightlight Christian Adoptions and a fertility clinic in Tennessee to make their dream of parenthood come true. They maintain contact with Thaddeus's biological mother and hope to give him a sibling using two more adopted embryos frozen since 2004.
