Gerald Dowling, 20, has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Alexa Stakely, a 29-year-old speech therapist from Canal Winchester. Stakely was fatally injured when she attempted to stop thieves from stealing her car with her 6-year-old son asleep inside. Two juveniles were also involved in the July 2024 incident—one has pleaded guilty, while another, the alleged driver, faces murder charges. Dowling now faces up to 16½ years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for August 7.
