Good morning, Fairfield County. A remarkable legacy is unfolding on Lancaster's softball diamond, where seven seniors have amassed an astonishing 90 wins during their high school careers. With three conference championships already under their belts, these talented athletes are now chasing history as they aim to become the first Lancaster softball team ever to reach the state tournament—a fitting capstone to their transformative impact on the program.

Amid this celebration of athletic achievement comes a story of genuine heroism, as Mifflin Township Fire Captain Anthony Torres' split-second decision saved a teenager's life at Alum Creek bridge. His instinctive action stands in stark contrast to the tragedy that unfolded in Canal Winchester, where three people were found dead in what police are investigating as a double murder-suicide—a sobering reminder of the importance of available resources for those experiencing domestic violence.

Anthony Torres, a Mifflin Township fire captain, was returning to his station when he spotted a distressed girl straddling a fence over Alum Creek. Without hesitation, he grabbed her just as she was preparing to jump, pulling her to safety. Torres, a father himself, said the incident was emotionally overwhelming, noting how it "really hits home" when children are involved. Fire Chief Brian Dunlevy praised Torres' quick thinking while highlighting the increasing number of mental health-related emergency calls his department receives.
