🔥 Firefighter heroics

Fairfield County • January 30, 2025

Good morning, Fairfield County. The phrase "when it rains, it pours" has taken on a fiery meaning in our community today, as emergency crews battle the third major blaze in just 24 hours. The situation in Bernie Township has become particularly dramatic, with ammunition creating an unexpected fireworks display that nobody wanted to see. Our firefighters are showing extraordinary courage as neighboring departments rush in to help tackle this dangerous scenario.

Meanwhile, nature offers a welcome respite from troubling headlines at Chestnut Ridge Metro Park, where breathtaking Appalachian views await just minutes from Columbus. At 1,116 feet elevation, the Ridge Trail provides a perfect vantage point to appreciate our region's natural beauty - and perhaps gain some much-needed perspective on life's challenges. Whether you're a mountain biker seeking thrills or a bird watcher hunting for one of 70 species, this 486-acre gem reminds us why we call this area home.
