Fairfield County • January 15, 2025

Good morning, Fairfield County. In a stark reminder that small-town life isn't always picture-perfect, Lancaster's usually quiet Garfield Avenue became the center of an unfolding mystery this Monday morning. As multiple agencies converge to investigate an unexpected death, our tight-knit community holds its collective breath, waiting for answers that might help make sense of this unsettling situation.

Meanwhile, economist Bill LaFayette is painting a sobering picture of Central Ohio's economic future that feels a bit like watching storm clouds gather on the horizon. His 2025 forecast suggests we're facing some significant headwinds, from workforce shortages to policy shifts that could reshape our regional economy. It's the kind of reality check that has local business leaders leaning forward in their chairs, taking notes, and perhaps reaching for an extra cup of coffee.
