πŸŽ‰ End of an era

Fairfield County • December 30, 2024

Good morning, Fairfield County. The curtain is falling on another retail icon as Party City prepares for its final markdown, proving that even the business of celebration isn't immune to economic gravity. After spreading joy through countless birthdays, graduations, and holiday festivities, all four Central Ohio locations will join the nationwide shutdown - a reminder that sometimes the party really does have to end.

But don't put those party shoes away just yet. Dublin Scioto High School's marching band is making some serious noise in Metallica's national competition, while over in Logan, a new 24/7 Anytime Fitness center is pumping fresh energy into Main Street. From head-banging band performances to late-night workout sessions, it seems our community still knows how to keep the celebration going.

🎈 Party City's final celebration: nationwide bankruptcy forces total shutdown. The retail chain, known for affordable party supplies and seasonal décor, is closing all locations after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in two years. Four Central Ohio stores, including locations in Columbus, Dublin, and Pickerington, are among the casualties of this retail collapse. The company plans to put its assets up for bidding, and if no buyer emerges, all inventory will be liquidated through store closing sales. This latest bankruptcy comes despite the company previously shedding $1 billion in debt during its first restructuring attempt last year.
