Good morning, Dublin. The arts are alive and thriving in central Ohio this season! At the Ohio Craft Museum, local artist James Mellick's haunting wooden "Ghost Dog" sculpture has captured the prestigious Sue Cavanaugh Memorial Award, standing out among 81 remarkable works in the "Best of 2025" exhibition. Meanwhile, after a five-year intermission, the curtain rises again at West Jefferson High School where students are bringing "Cinderella" to life with fresh talent and fairy tale magic.
While creativity flourishes, community engagement takes center stage in Hilliard, where residents recently packed a City Council meeting armed with 300 signatures to protect Jeffrelyn Road from becoming a major thoroughfare. Their persistence paid off with a compromise limiting the connection to emergency vehicles onlyβa reminder that sometimes the most powerful art form is citizens coming together to shape their neighborhood's future.

ποΈ Hilliard residents fight to keep neighborhood road safe from expansion. City Council approved a housing development that would extend Jeffrelyn Road, but residents packed a meeting with concerns about increased traffic endangering children. A petition with 300 signatures opposed the road expansion connecting to 300 new homes. In a compromise, Council voted 5-2 to limit the road to emergency traffic only while studying safety options like traffic calming devices and roundabouts. Councilman Carrier supported the project overall, citing the need for affordable mid-tier housing in Hilliard.
