🤖 Robot patrol

Dublin • March 17, 2025

Good morning, Dublin. The future has arrived in our city streets, as Dublin prepares to welcome some unusual new members to its public safety team. Two patrol robots, equipped with 360-degree cameras and two-way communication capabilities, will soon be roaming Riverside Crossing Park Plaza and a library parking garage, offering a glimpse into how technology is reshaping community security in the 21st century.

Meanwhile, the safety of our youngest residents takes center stage at a Delaware intersection near Ohio Wesleyan University's Early Childhood Center. After alarming data showed vehicles speeding through at 34 mph and ignoring pedestrians in crosswalks, city officials unanimously approved comprehensive safety upgrades including LED-lit stop signs and improved visibility measures. The changes highlight our region's commitment to protecting its most vulnerable citizens—especially when they're still learning to walk.

The city council unanimously approved an all-way stop at Park Avenue and South Franklin Street near Ohio Wesleyan University's Early Childhood Center. Officials cited alarming data showing vehicles traveling 34 mph in a 25 mph zone and drivers ignoring pedestrians in crosswalks. The intersection will feature LED-lit stop signs for at least a year, additional pedestrian crossing signage, and removal of visibility-blocking trees. Public Works Director Bill Ferrigno emphasized the urgency of these changes, noting the intersection is primarily used by very young children.
