Good morning, Dev Test County. Dallas is facing a somber reality this week as two tragic incidents claim lives in our community. The death of David Paul Mitchell at The Village apartment complex pool and the passing of Frank Ruiz while in police custody following his arrest highlight the fragility of life and raise important questions about public safety protocols. This marks the third in-custody death this year, triggering multiple investigations by oversight authorities.

On a forward-looking note, the digital revolution is transforming our regional landscape as Dallas-Fort Worth emerges as one of America's premier data center hubs. With nearly 190 facilities already operational and tech giants like Google investing billions across North Texas, our area is becoming crucial digital infrastructure for the nation. The boom brings economic opportunities but also challenges, as these massive facilities consume electricity equivalent to entire cities—a reminder that technological progress always comes with resource considerations.

💾 Dallas-Fort Worth's data center boom is transforming the digital landscape. The region ranks among America's top markets with nearly 190 facilities, housing the servers that power our digital lives. Companies like Google and DataBank are investing billions in new centers across North Texas, attracted by relatively affordable energy and business-friendly policies. However, experts worry about resource strain as modern facilities demand massive amounts of electricity—some requiring power equivalent to entire cities—and consume significant water for cooling. Despite these challenges, industry leaders believe data centers are critical infrastructure for Texas's technological future.
