Darke County • October 3, 2025
Good morning, Darke County. Life can change in a split second, as one local motorcyclist discovered when a deer darted into his path on State Route 502. Perry Rapier's unexpected wildlife encounter sent his Harley Davidson into a ditch, yet thankfully resulted in only minor injuries. The incident serves as a timely reminder of autumn's increased deer activity as we travel our rural highways.
Meanwhile, laughter and history are taking center stage across the county this season. Stand-up comedian Tony Deyo brings his perfectly-timed observational humor to Beanz Buttercream Bakery on October 16, launching DCCA's new Coffee House Series. And while adults enjoy entertainment options, local fourth graders recently stepped back in time during Pioneer Days, where hands-on activities like tin smithing and apple pressing brought Ohio's settlement period vividly to life through immersive educational experiences.
