🚣 River takeover

Clermont County • April 8, 2025

Good morning, Clermont County. The Ohio River has dramatically transformed our regional landscape this week, swallowing Cincinnati's iconic riverfront under relentless floodwaters that crested above 60 feet. Aerial photos reveal a startling sight: Smale Riverfront Park completely submerged, the James Bradley statue in Covington standing like a partially sunken sentinel, and major venues including Paycor Stadium threatened by the rising waters that extend well beyond downtown into communities like Newtown and Milford.

Meanwhile, as the Scioto River pushes past flood stage in Piketon and Circleville, music enthusiasts found dry ground at Cincinnati's Redmoor Event House where The McCartney Project delivered a captivating Beatles tribute performance. Staff Photojournalist Tavish Sweeney captured the magical evening through his lens, providing a welcome cultural respite amid the region's ongoing battle with Mother Nature's watery assault on our communities.
