🌲 Appalachian Ohio launches $125,000 funding initiative for environmental champions. The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is offering grants for conservation and environmental stewardship projects across 39 counties. Funding categories include community grants for local projects, two-year fellowships with stipends and mentorship, innovation grants for creative approaches, and research grants for ecosystem studies. Made possible by a $5 million investment from the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District and other partners, applications must be submitted by July 15.

Sandra Hope

Sandra Lee Hope, born December 7, 1946, passed away on June 15, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. She worked for General Telephone Company until 1979 and was deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America from 1981 to 2011, serving in various leadership roles. Sandra was an active member of the Albany United Methodist Church and would have celebrated 55 years of marriage with her husband Ronald this July. She is survived by her husband, two sons, siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several extended family members whom she cherished.

Lyn Butrick

A memorial service for Lyn McClure Butrick, who passed away at age 87 on March 19, 2025, will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Athens on June 21st at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception at the Ohio University Inn. She was a loving mother to four children and a devoted wife to her late husband, Dr. Richard P. Butrick, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Dairy Barn Arts Center or The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
