Good morning, Athens County. The brick-lined paths of Ohio University just became more innovative with the unveiling of the Russ Research Opportunity Center. This 60,000-square-foot transformation from 1920s office space to cutting-edge research hub represents more than just new laboratories—it embodies the university's commitment to "creating for good" through sustainable energy and transportation advancements. With 20 research groups and $4.5 million in annual research, OHIO continues cementing its status as a Carnegie R1 Research University.

Meanwhile, the Athens arts scene is hitting all the right notes this spring. Over 150 young musicians will showcase their talents during five recitals at Glidden Hall in April, offering free performances for the community. These concerts arrive just as one graduating journalism student reflects on her unexpected love affair with Athens—a place where she discovered countless stories waiting to be told, from local drag performers to trailblazing alumni, reminding us that everyone has "a sphere of influence" to impact the world.
