Athens County • April 22, 2025
Good morning, Athens County. The crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd, and a perfect storybook ending β that's what Ohio softball delivered this weekend with their first sweep of Miami since 2017. Senior CiCi Keidel's walk-off heroics capped a day that was less about the scoreboard and more about honoring five Bobcat veterans who've left their mark on the program. Nothing quite says "college sports" like that magical mix of drama and celebration.
As spring inches closer, the university is already planning next May's graduation ceremonies, giving families plenty of time to mark calendars for those Convocation Center celebrations. In musical news that has the town still buzzing, My Morning Jacket transformed Templeton-Blackburn into a rock sanctuary, with OU alum Bo Koster's homecoming adding an extra layer of electricity to a show that drew superfans from across the Midwest. Some connections to Athens, it seems, never fade.

π Ohio University sets spring 2025 graduation ceremonies for early May. The university will hold separate ceremonies for graduate students on May 2 and undergraduate students on May 3 at the Convocation Center. Undergraduate ceremonies are split into morning and afternoon sessions based on college affiliation, with each lasting approximately two hours. The afternoon session was pushed back to allow for a new formal recessional and better guest flow between ceremonies. Visitors can park in campus dark green or purple lots, with disability parking available at the Convocation Center.
