Athens County • January 8, 2025
Good morning, Athens County. With temperatures plummeting faster than a polar bear's picnic, our community is showing its warmest heart. From emergency warming stations springing up across the county to Christ Lutheran Church opening its doors for overnight shelter, we're proving that even Level 3 Snow Emergencies can't freeze out our neighborly spirit. And while some might be battling the elements, our local law enforcement is keeping things entertainingly cozy with their latest blotter featuring everything from Facebook feuds to mysterious egg attacks.
Meanwhile, twenty-five of our local swimmers are making their own splash, turning Ohio University's pool into a stage for aquatic excellence. Emma Moore's fourth-place freestyle finish at the Turn It Gold Winter Invite reminds us that even in the depths of winter, Athens County athletes know how to make waves.
