Good morning, Westerville. Behind the walls of Logan County's Solid Waste District building, a transformative construction project has given OSU Extension staff something they've never had before: actual walls. Dubbed the "Great Wall of OSU," this simple addition has revolutionized how these dedicated professionals deliver agricultural, youth development, and nutrition programming throughout the community, trading makeshift partitions for proper office space that matches their professional mission.

Meanwhile, breakthrough cancer treatment is offering new hope at OhioHealth Riverside, where HIPEC therapy combines surgery with heated chemotherapy delivered directly to affected areasβ€”reducing side effects while maximizing effectiveness. And gentlemen, it might be time to think about those bones. A Wexner Medical Center survey reveals just 1% of men worry about bone density despite millions living with osteoporosis. Doctors recommend starting resistance training in your 30s or 40s to prevent losing that critical 3% of bone mass each year.

🧱 Logan County's "Great Wall of OSU" transforms Extension Office workspace. The newly constructed wall inside the Logan County Solid Waste District building gives OSU Extension staff their first enclosed, secure office space. Previously, employees worked in an open common area separated only by temporary partitions. The wall provides much-needed privacy and professionalism for the team that delivers agricultural, natural resources, youth development, and nutrition programming throughout the county. Both Commissioner Joe Antram and Extension agents praised the improvement for enhancing their ability to serve community residents.

πŸ₯ Innovative cancer treatment offers new hope at OhioHealth Riverside. Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) combines cytoreductive surgery with heated chemotherapy directly infused into the abdominal cavity. This approach allows for higher drug concentrations with fewer typical chemotherapy side effects like nausea and hair loss. Initially developed for rare appendiceal tumors, HIPEC has expanded to treat advanced-stage colon, gastric, and now stage 3 epithelial ovarian cancers. Doctors at OhioHealth praise the treatment as an important integration of innovation with evidence-based practice in gynecologic oncology care.

🦴 Men ignore bone health despite millions with osteoporosis. A Wexner Medical Center survey found just 1% of adult men worry about bone density, while they focus more on cancer, heart disease, obesity, and sexual health. About 2 million American men have osteoporosis and 16 million have low bone mass, making them vulnerable to fractures. Dr. Paul Lewis recommends starting prevention through resistance training in one's 30s or 40s to avoid losing 3% of bone mass yearly. Healthier lifestyle choices like avoiding excessive drinking and smoking can help recover bone density.
