Good morning, Westerville. Historic transformations are breathing new life into Columbus landmarks as the century-old YMCA building on Long Street begins its journey to become "The Lofts at 40 Long." This ambitious two-year renovation project will preserve the building's character while creating 121 affordable apartments—turning a piece of downtown history into much-needed housing for residents earning 30-80% of the area median income.

Music lovers have something special to celebrate as local jazz collective Gault demonstrates how creativity can flourish even in isolation. Born during pandemic lockdowns, the group's newest album "If the Heavens Came Down" showcases diverse compositions ranging from atmospheric pieces to improvisational instrumentals. Meanwhile, on the soccer pitch, Mad River United FC Pink girls maintained their dominance with a commanding 2-0 victory over Upper Arlington, thanks to early goals and an impenetrable defensive line that refused to bend.

🏙️ Historic YMCA building gets new life as affordable housing. The Downtown Commission has approved plans to renovate the century-old YMCA building at 40 W. Long Street in Columbus. Developer Woda Cooper Companies will transform the property into "The Lofts at 40 Long," creating 121 affordable apartments for residents earning 30-80% of the area median income. The two-year renovation will preserve the building's historic character while adding modern safety features like an enclosed stairwell. This project breathes new purpose into the former YMCA headquarters, which previously housed 400 people in dormitory-style rooms.

🎵 Jazz collective Gault turns pandemic isolation into musical connection. Born during COVID lockdowns, the band emerged from keyboardist Caleb Miller's desire to reconnect with fellow musicians after periods of isolation. Their debut album "Mirth" reflected both the heaviness and lightness of pandemic experiences, while their newest release "If the Heavens Came Down" showcases more diverse compositions from all band members. The eclectic collection ranges from atmospheric pieces to improvisational instrumentals, with drummer Seth Daly contributing deeply personal tracks inspired by family experiences. For Miller, Gault represents a more intentional approach to music-making after the pandemic, focusing on meaningful collaborations rather than spreading himself too thin.

⚽ Mad River United FC Pink girls dominate with 2-0 win. The team secured victory over Upper Arlington United in a Monday evening match in Bellefontaine, with early goals from Maddy Wood and Violet Dunham establishing a commanding halftime lead. Despite Upper Arlington tightening their defense in the second half, Mad River's impenetrable back line—featuring seven standout defenders—maintained a clean sheet throughout the contest.
