🏛️ Historic mansion transforms into chic downtown event space. Jason Parks has converted part of his digital marketing firm's 7,000-square-foot historic home into Topiary Mansion, a new event venue opening in downtown Columbus. The 1880s building, once home to Ohio Governor Judson Harmon, maintains its original charm with 15-foot ceilings and hardwood floors while featuring newly designed lounge areas and a "speakeasy" bar. Perfect for "micro" events of around 50 people, the venue allows guests to bring their own food and alcohol, making it a cost-effective option for showers, small weddings, and corporate gatherings.
🌟 Five extraordinary Ohio students shine with remarkable achievements and community impact. From Sophie Jaques making hockey history as the first Ohio State player drafted into the Professional Women's Hockey League, to Bianca Patrone earning a bachelor's degree before finishing high school, these young talents are breaking barriers. The featured students include Andrew Ziarko, who received a prestigious $25,000 scholarship to pursue biomedical engineering; True King, who's building a future in skilled trades with carpentry credentials; and Jordan Schwartz, a Harvard student with a perfect ACT score and national debate championship. Patch and T-Mobile partnered to celebrate these star students making lasting contributions across the Buckeye State.
🌭 California hot dog chain Dog Haus is coming to Columbus in 2025. Franchisees Cherokee and Michelle Rhoda have signed a deal to open four locations across Ohio, starting with Columbus. The fast-casual concept, founded in 2010, serves all-beef hot dogs, proprietary sausages, and Black Angus burgers on grilled King's Hawaiian rolls. Dog Haus, which has over 50 locations nationwide, gained additional recognition after adding YouTube star Jake Paul to its board last year. The chain hopes to appeal to Ohio State University students and local professionals seeking quality dining options.
