🔗 Fashion show to spotlight human trafficking through powerful storytelling journey. The Unchained OSU Fashion Show on March 22 will use garments, music, and poetry to portray a survivor's path from innocence through violence to restoration. Held at Ohio Union Performance Hall, the event aims to educate attendees about recognizing and reporting trafficking while supporting the abolitionist movement. The show features student models, speakers, musical performances, and community booths, with admission donations supporting scholarships for trafficking survivors pursuing higher education. Doors open at 6pm with suggested donations of $10 for students and $15 for non-students.
👮♂️ Ohio's newest state troopers are ready to hit the road. After 28 weeks of rigorous training, 40 cadets from the Ohio State Highway Patrol's 175th Academy Class graduated in a ceremony attended by state officials. The class included two Stateline area men, Parker Mihm of Willshire and Jacob Westerfield of St. Marys. Graduates completed intensive coursework in crash investigation, criminal law, firearms, and emergency vehicle operations, with several cadets receiving special recognition for outstanding performance. The new troopers will begin their field training at 28 different posts across Ohio starting March 23.
⚖️ Lawsuit targets jail medical provider after inmate's death. The estate of Gierra Perdue, who died in Franklin County Jail in 2023, has filed a wrongful death suit against Armor Health of Ohio. The lawsuit claims staff falsified safety check documentation for Perdue, who was detoxing from narcotics and required monitoring every 10 minutes. According to the filing, medical staff allegedly attempted to destroy original records after Perdue was found dead on March 17, 2023. The suit seeks damages of at least $25,000.
