Good morning, Vinton County. The numbers tell an extraordinary story of community impact: over 136,000 meals served to children this summer through the Southeast Ohio Foodbank's expanded program—a five-fold increase from last year. This remarkable achievement transformed local libraries into vibrant hubs where children not only received vital nutrition but also found spaces for connection and enrichment, demonstrating how innovative approaches to longstanding challenges can yield dramatic results.

Meanwhile, as Nelsonville navigates complex legal waters over ballot candidates and government structure, Ohio University is breaking new academic ground with its School of International Studies and Languages. This innovative merger brings together 14 different language programs under one cohesive umbrella, creating exciting cross-cultural opportunities from Halal cooking competitions to Hispanic film screenings—all while maintaining departmental autonomy and preserving course offerings for students eager to develop global perspectives.

🍽️ Summer meals program explodes with five-fold growth in Southeast Ohio. The Southeast Ohio Foodbank served over 136,000 meals to children during summer break, dramatically up from last year's numbers. This success stemmed from adding take-home meal packs containing weekly breakfast and lunch supplies alongside traditional eat-in programs at local libraries. These library sites became community hubs where children could eat, socialize, and participate in programming. "This program provided much-needed nutrition and peace of mind for families," said Alicia Miklos, the food bank's director.

⚖️ Nelsonville's legal battle over ballot candidates sparks financial concerns. Residents are frustrated about taxpayer money funding ongoing litigation related to the city's November ballot. City officials clarified that while their law attorney waived his fees, the city will pay another attorney from general and utility funds since insurance won't cover the case. The dispute centers around Issue 23, a citizen initiative to change Nelsonville's form of government, which the city repealed after voters approved it. The Ohio Supreme Court denied the city's request to remove Issue 23 candidates, potentially creating confusion about which council will have authority in January.
