Good morning, Vinton County. The sound of gunfire shattered the usual calm of Chillicothe streets Monday night as a drive-by shooting left nine shell casings scattered across East Water and Rose streets. While police continue their investigation into the felonious assault, residents can breathe easier knowing no injuries were reported despite witnesses counting more than a dozen shots fired from a passing vehicle.

On a more harmonious note, the Logan Elm Marching Band of Pride has hit a remarkable milestone – 23 consecutive years of state finals qualification. Their superior rating at their annual Classic positions them among Ohio's elite ensembles heading to the OMEA State Finals in November. Meanwhile, Athens is alive with free community events this week, from gentle yoga sessions to Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, with Saturday's Skate Jam music festival capping off a calendar packed with activities for every interest.
