Good morning, Vinton County. The crisp autumn air signals the perfect time for Ohioans to escape the routine without crossing state lines. Just a short drive away, Hocking Hills' majestic waterfalls, Put-in-Bay's serene island charm, and Holmes County's homemade pies await weekend adventurers seeking that perfect seasonal getaway. Each destination offers a uniquely Ohio experience as the landscape transforms into a canvas of reds and golds.

While courts in Athens County tackle serious matters from drug possession to violent crimes, a heartwarming literacy initiative is taking root in the same community. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is delivering monthly books to 319 young Athens residents, with the City Council considering a $10,000 investment to sustain the program. In a region described as a "book desert," these colorful deliveries are planting seeds for lifelong reading that will bloom far beyond childhood.

📚 Dolly Parton's books bring literacy to Athens' youngest residents. Library Director Nick Tepe explained that Athens County is a "book desert," making these deliveries crucial for early literacy development. The state currently covers half the program's costs, but Council members expressed strong support for ensuring its continuation even after Governor DeWine's term ends.
