Vinton County • August 13, 2025
Good morning, Vinton County. The phrase "heavy is the head that wears the crown" clearly doesn't apply to the beaming faces of Opal Huggins and Bryant Mohler, newly crowned Meigs County Fair royalty for 2025. These young leaders join a court that includes everything from livestock royalty to the adorable Little Miss and Mister winners, all crediting their fair experience with building crucial life skills that extend far beyond the show ring.
While royalty reigns at the fairgrounds, community support flows elsewhere in our region. Homeland Credit Union is brewing up hope with weekly Coffee Chats for displaced Chillicothe Paper Mill workers, offering financial guidance during uncertain times. And speaking of exceptional leadership, Ross County Humane Society's Jenn Thomas has joined an elite global group of just 352 animal welfare professionals with her prestigious certification—further proof that our small communities continue to produce world-class talent.
