Good morning, Vinton County. Academic excellence is shining brightly in our region as 37 local students achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs at Ohio University, earning spots on the prestigious President's List. These standout scholars from communities including Ironton, South Point, and Proctorville represent the remarkable talent being cultivated in our corner of Ohio – part of approximately 2,200 students university-wide who demonstrated exceptional academic commitment last semester.

The hills will soon be alive with the sound of Appalachian music as the Happy Hollow Hootenanny returns for its third year this September. This four-day celebration of regional culture offers workshops, concerts, and square dances for all ages at Nelsonville's Snow Fork Event Center. Meanwhile, communities across Ohio are preparing for significant civic engagement on June 14, when hundreds of "No Kings" rallies are scheduled to address concerns about immigration policies and federal authority – events organizers emphasize will be nonviolent and community-driven.
