Good morning, Vinton County. A cloud of sorrow hangs over our region today as neighboring Gallia County confronts an unimaginable tragedy. Five individuals were discovered unresponsive in a Clay Township home Tuesday morning, in what officials describe as "truly heartbreaking" circumstances. While authorities continue their investigation, they've indicated no suspicion of foul play as they work to notify all affected families before releasing identities.

In stark contrast to this somber news, a wave of nostalgia arrives this weekend as Final Boss Con returns to the University of Rio Grande. The fourth annual gaming convention promises over 90 vendors, gaming tournaments, and appearances by beloved voice actors from Pokémon, Final Fantasy VII, and Dragon Ball Z. Meanwhile, federal authorities have announced serious charges against a McArthur resident for alleged possession of disturbing child exploitation materials—a case that could result in decades of imprisonment if convicted.
