🎭 Wonderland wakes up

Vinton County • March 17, 2025

Good morning, Vinton County. Wonderland has come to life in our own backyard! The Wellston High School Drama Club transformed their stage into a magical realm last weekend, with 52 talented students bringing Disney's Alice in Wonderland Jr. to vibrant life. While these young performers were creating theatrical memories, county commissioners were making decisions of a different sort – approving demolition grants for several historic buildings including the former Sheriff's Office and sections of the McArthur Standard Hardware Store.

Winter's grip may be loosening, but its effects linger in local school calendars. Four districts in our region have exceeded their allotted snow days, forcing creative solutions to make up lost instruction time. Jackson City Schools will utilize remote learning, while Wellston students will be extending their academic year past Memorial Day. It seems Mother Nature has added her own amendment to this semester's educational plans – proving once again that in Ohio, flexibility is as essential as textbooks.
