Union County • August 12, 2025
Good morning, Union County. In a striking reflection of our region's economic vitality, Union County property values have surged by an eye-popping 27.14% for 2025. Those postcards arriving in mailboxes aren't just paper – they're snapshots of a robust real estate market that's reshaping our community's financial landscape. Property owners now have the opportunity to schedule informal hearings with appraisal staff to discuss these tentative valuations before they're finalized in October.
Meanwhile, our community bids farewell to two remarkable individuals whose lives embodied different facets of Union County's character. Rickie "Hutch" Hutchins leaves behind a legacy of outdoor adventures and small kindnesses, from hunting tales to CowTale candies freely shared with local children. Similarly, Michael "Mike" Feeley's 79 years were marked by family devotion, Caribbean cruises, and pride in his vintage 1949 Bullet Nose Studebaker – reminders that our community's greatest treasures are the lives well-lived among us.

An "old hippie and true outdoorsman," Hutch was remembered for always having a smile and a CowTale candy ready to give to children. His memorial service will be held August 14, with casual dress encouraged and bib overalls welcomed.
🏠 Union County property values skyrocket 27.14% for 2025. The significant increase reflects strength in the local real estate market, according to the recently approved Tentative Property Value Abstract. Property owners have received postcards with instructions to review their tentative values and schedule informal hearings with appraisal staff. These hearings, available by appointment only at various locations from August to September, will address valuation questions but not tax rates. Auditor Andrea Weaver emphasized that the abstract remains tentative until the final filing in late October.
