Union County • July 15, 2025
Good morning, Union County. Summer 2025 is bringing a perfect storm of roadwork across our area, with closures and detours reshaping daily commutes through next year. U.S. 42 southbound shuts down starting July 8, joining the already-closed State Route 736 and the long-term U.S. 33 ramp project. Consider these orange cones your unofficial summer mascots as navigation apps earn their keep helping motorists find alternate routes.
While infrastructure transforms outside, Marysville City Council tackles important business inside chambers tonight at 7 p.m., including a $1.4 million note issuance for city improvements. The community also prepares to honor Christine Moder, whose 32 years of dedicated service to Marysville's mayors came to a close on July 9. Her legendary Christmas decorations and warm hospitality left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know the woman behind 47 years of beautiful memories.

🚧 Major roadwork disrupts Union County traffic through Fall 2025. U.S. 42 southbound will close between SR 745 and U.S. 33 starting July 8, with northbound lanes remaining open. State Route 736 is closed between Taylor Rd. and Robinson Rd. for a 120-day bridge replacement project that began June 16. The SR 161 eastbound ramp to U.S. 33 southbound will remain closed for reconstruction until Summer 2025. Motorists are advised to reduce speed, watch for stopped traffic, and follow posted detours through all work zones.
🏙️ Marysville City Council tackles four key ordinances today. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, with two annexation-related ordinances requested to be tabled until July 28th. A public hearing for the Boerger Road Planned Unit Development is also scheduled. Citizens can attend in person or watch online, with a Public Safety/Service Committee meeting preceding at 6 p.m.
