Good morning, Summit County. Northeast Ohio's healthcare landscape expands today as Akron Children's Hospital opens its first Jackson Township location, bringing specialized pediatric care closer to home for many Stark County families. With a team of physicians and nurse practitioners offering both primary and behavioral health services, this new Fulton Drive facility strengthens the regional network of care options for our youngest residents.
Meanwhile, mark your calendars for some extraordinary experiences heading our way. Rock fans can look forward to 2026 when Maynard James Keenan brings Puscifer's theatrical performance to the Akron Civic Theatre, while wine enthusiasts have a more immediate treat—Vaccaro's Trattoria hosts Robert Biale Vineyards for a five-course dinner on October 22, featuring the legendary "Black Chicken" Zinfandel with its prohibition-era code name origins. Two distinctly different events, both promising to deliver memorable moments in our corner of Ohio.

🎸 Maynard James Keenan's Puscifer announces Akron tour stop for 2026. The theatrical rock trio will perform at the Akron Civic Theatre on April 16, with tickets going on sale October 24. They'll be showcasing their upcoming fifth album "Normal Isn't," scheduled for release in February, which Keenan describes as exploring "where goth meets punk." The band has already released the album's lead single "Self-Evident," recorded during a live performance where they played the entire new album. Puscifer last visited Northeast Ohio during their Sessanta tour, where Keenan pulled double duty fronting both Puscifer and A Perfect Circle.
🍷 Napa Valley's historic winery brings "Black Chicken" to Akron dinner. Vaccaro's Trattoria is hosting a special event featuring Robert Biale Vineyards on October 22. The winery's story dates back to the 1940s when young Aldo Biale secretly delivered Zinfandel using the code name "Black Chicken" to avoid eavesdroppers on party lines. The $150 five-course dinner pairs Biale's renowned wines with dishes like lamb baklava, blackened salmon, and Roman pizza. Reservations are required for this exclusive tasting at Vaccaro's Akron location.
