🏛 Legacy in the plaza

Summit County • February 24, 2025

Good morning, Summit County. History echoes through our streets in powerful ways. In 1828, right here in Ohio, an illiterate woman named Sojourner Truth did something extraordinary - she successfully sued a white man to recover her son from slavery, marking a watershed moment in American justice. Nearly two centuries later, her legacy of breaking barriers continues to inspire, with her statue standing proud at the Truth Legacy Plaza in Akron.

Speaking of trailblazers shaping our community, Akron Children's Hospital welcomes Dr. Sara Lee as its new director of medical education. She'll be guiding the next generation of healthcare heroes, bringing her expertise from leading Case Western's COVID-19 response. Meanwhile, our hearts are heavy as we process the tragic news from Springfield Lake, where emergency responders worked tirelessly in their recovery efforts on Wednesday.
