Good morning, Stark County. A seismic shift is underway at Canton's Hall of Fame Village as the company announces plans to go private through a $0.90-per-share merger agreement. The move comes alongside efforts to finalize a new water park lease after the previous one was terminated over $2.6 million in unpaid obligations—highlighting the complex financial maneuvers happening behind the scenes at one of our area's most prominent attractions.

From entertainment to elections, our community calendar is filling up fast. The Roxy Theatre in Minerva will welcome comedians Glen Tickle and Ricky Glore for their Daddio Tour on May 16, while middle schoolers can explore career paths at Mahoning County's summer camps in June. Meanwhile, familiar face Bill Smuckler is making his political comeback after securing 27% of votes in Tuesday's Democratic primary for Canton council, potentially returning to the position he first held nearly four decades ago.

The deal aims to provide "strategic flexibility and additional working capital" according to outgoing CEO Michael Crawford. Additionally, the company is finalizing a new lease agreement for its water park property after the previous lease was terminated over $2.6 million in unpaid obligations.
