🛡️ Justice center ahead

Stark County • March 19, 2025

Good morning, Stark County. Did you know women who survive one strangulation incident are 750% more likely to be killed later? That sobering statistic is driving Stark County's ambitious plan to create a Family Justice Center this fall—a one-stop facility where domestic violence survivors can access all needed services under one roof. The initiative comes at a critical time, as our county reportedly experienced as many domestic violence homicides last year as much larger Cuyahoga County.

In brighter developments, the local retail landscape continues to evolve with Academy Sports + Outdoors signing a 15-year lease at The Strip in Jackson Township. The sporting goods giant will occupy 61,000 square feet and create approximately 60 jobs. Meanwhile, foodies have reason to celebrate as the Munson family prepares to open Bella's Pizzeria in Plain Township on March 20, bringing their renowned specialties like hot honey sausage pizza to a new venue with full bar and patio seating.
