Good morning, Scioto County. The clock is ticking for millions of Americans who rely on SNAP benefits, with the possibility of food assistance running dry by November 1 if the government shutdown continues. For Lawrence County residents facing this uncertainty, local Jobs and Family Services director Missy Evans is encouraging people to reach out for connections to food pantries and alternative resources during what could become a challenging period for many families.

Fortunately, community spirit is alive and well throughout the region. Pike County's calendar is bursting with seasonal activities – from noodle dinners and Halloween parades to educational sessions and recycling initiatives. Culture enthusiasts have something special to anticipate as well, with the acclaimed Huntington Camerata bringing their classical string mastery to Ironton on November 2, adding a touch of musical elegance to what's shaping up to be a vibrant weekend in the Tri-State area.

🍽️ Federal shutdown threatens millions of Americans' food assistance. SNAP benefits could run out on November 1 if the government shutdown continues, leaving many Lawrence County residents without full food assistance. The USDA Food and Nutrition Service has warned there may only be partial funding available for November payments. "None of us know what is going to happen," said Missy Evans, director of Jobs and Family Services, who encourages affected residents to contact their office for help connecting with food pantries and other resources during this uncertain time.
