Scioto County • October 27, 2025
Good morning, Scioto County. The clock is ticking for millions of Americans who rely on SNAP benefits, with the possibility of food assistance running dry by November 1 if the government shutdown continues. For Lawrence County residents facing this uncertainty, local Jobs and Family Services director Missy Evans is encouraging people to reach out for connections to food pantries and alternative resources during what could become a challenging period for many families.
Fortunately, community spirit is alive and well throughout the region. Pike County's calendar is bursting with seasonal activities – from noodle dinners and Halloween parades to educational sessions and recycling initiatives. Culture enthusiasts have something special to anticipate as well, with the acclaimed Huntington Camerata bringing their classical string mastery to Ironton on November 2, adding a touch of musical elegance to what's shaping up to be a vibrant weekend in the Tri-State area.
