Scioto County • October 8, 2025
Good morning, Scioto County. A piece of nearly forgotten history has reclaimed its rightful place in our collective memory. The Village of Alexandria, our county's first established town dating back to 1799, now stands commemorated with a new marker along the Scenic Scioto Heritage Trail. This community-powered project adds another chapter to the 84-mile trail that tells our region's rich story through 40 historical markers, blending artwork from the Portsmouth Murals Committee with craftsmanship from local technical students.
As one season closes, others prepare to begin. The Main Street Portsmouth in Bloom Farmers Market wrapped up its record-breaking 16th year by honoring standout vendors, while The Garden Child Advocacy Center looks ahead to February's Mask-erade fundraiser. The latter event aims to "unmask the silence of child abuse" through community sponsorships starting at just $150 β a meaningful investment in an organization providing critical services to our most vulnerable neighbors.
